Research Overview of siMulation-Observation Environment
The aim of the Simulation-Observation Environment is to understand the water related disaster and its mechanism such as waves, storm surges, flood, heavy rainfall and climate change impact on land and environment. We observe water disaster using direct observe combining with satellite image especially at remote area around Asia, especially Indonesia. Not only those, We evaluate water disaster quantitatively in order to deeply considered adaptation and mitigation measure at the future. The future projection impact on water disaster is also concern by included the trigger caused such as rainfall distribution and its characteristic. However, climate change and land use change may exacerbate the water disaster at near future. We aim to propose adaptation and mitigation measure for the sustainable future. The main research topics are:
- Observe water disaster by using direct observation and it will be compared using satellite images.
- Development of flood inundation model from upstream to downstream due to heavy rainfall.
- Evaluate the impact of land use change, land subsidence, climate change and sea level rise on flood in urban and rural area.
- Development of satellite image analysis methods for environmental change analysis.
- Investigate the mechanisms of water disaster in Asia.
- Investigate the trash mechanisms on river and dam inundated area in Indonesia.
- Development of flood early warning system in river and artificial infrastructure in Asia.
- Development real-time hydrological station system in Asia
